Gross and rainy day... schlepping across West 23rd street looking for a bite, and a see a HUGE sign, "Burger and a beer. All day and night every day." BINGO! I'm the third wheel at the bar and one other couple is finishing up at a table in the back. The bartender just looks at me like I'm annoying, so I ask if he is serving lunch to which he replies, "yes." Hmm... not much of an ice breaker, so I ask for a menu. I don't know why, because I know exactly what I want, but I didn't know if I had any options. He came back after a short while and I asked, "Do you have a burger and beer special?" He just nods. "I'll have that." Then I tell him Med Rare and ask what kind of cheese and beer I can choose from. I picked swiss and a Sam draft, which he brings in a frosty mug.... delicioso! Oh! I almost forgot... he actually CARDED me!! ROFL... the burger came with Tater Tots... who could ask for anything more? Everyone else left so its just me, my burger and beer, my blog, and the bartender. What a perfect NYC with Goldi day! Smak!
The spot is TRAILER PARK... West 23rd (7/8)... check it out!

Thank you, STARBUCKS!
Okay, so I am so proud to be a NY'er my entire adult life and I just found out something I didn't know that I didn't know...
STARBUCKS gives REFILLS! Oh yes, for 50 cents you can bring an old, dirty, STARBUCKS cup to any store and ask for a refill for 50 cents!
How awesome is that??? I have been toting around my last cup with me daily for about a week now... LOL
Even the delis charge $1 to $1.50 for a small cup of coffee, as to the street carts... so even though the first cup is NOT 50 cents, if you get enough refills... you do the math! Thanks for another unexpected gift from New York City!!!

Empire State Building
Yes, the locals may say it's PASSE, but the Empire State Building is currently the tallest building in NYC and quite magnificent.
I happened to be reminded by an unexpected chain of event this evening just how magnificent it is...
After waiting a half an hour for entry into a pre-registered SAG event and being turned away at rh door for over-booking.
, (shame on you, SAG Foundation!) I crankily wandered across West 32nd street, also known as Koreatown, and looked up and there it was, right in front of me: La Quinta Inn!
Huh? You may be saying to yourself, but YES! La Quinta Inn has a rooftop deck that directly faces, you guessed it, the Empire State Building!
Unassuming and "who knew?", the roof is filled with all type enjoying HH (happy hour!) Specials and the spectcular, unique view...
I was pleasantly surprised to reaquaint myself with this establishment that I had discovered "back in the day".
The charming bartenders and refreshing $1 off glass of wine was exactly the attitude adjustment I was looking for.
And for all of you smokers out there... prominent signs announce, "SMOKING. PERMITTED".
I am such an enabler!
Until next time...
